February 4 is the Next First Saturday Amador Art Trek

After taking the month of January off, the next First Saturday of the monthly Amador Art Trek will be Saturday February 4, a free self-guided walk or drive-and-walk tour that provides easy public access to where art is located, whether in galleries or businesses that hang unique art on their walls.  Part of Art Trek is the monthly “1st Saturday” when many participating galleries have receptions in the afternoon to kick-off their new shows.

You can go on the Art Trek ANYTIME when the galleries are open. To obtain more details of all the locations listed below go to www.amadorarts.org and click on "Events", and then "Art Trek".

Here is a brief listing in alphabetical order of participating galleries and if they have featured art in February:

Acme Art – Moke Hill  “A Creative Playground” in historic Mokelumne Hill. Valentine Workshop with special guest Anna Corba: “All You Need Is Love!” - February 4th  Noon– 3pm. $65. Create a duet of vintage inspired candy boxes and a sweet handful of artfully collaged Valentines to give to your special someone.  8359 Center St. 209-286-8040.

Add Art- Jackson.  Fine art framing services, and the colorful original vibrant and whimsical canvases of the late John Johannsen are featured. 20 Main St., Jackson.

AmadorArts Gallery-  Sutter Creek.  For February: “Phoenix Rising” Exhibit featuring 8 artists affected by the devastating 2015 Butte Fire. See unusual heartfelt works the reflect hope and renewal. 11ª Randolph, Sutter Creek. On Feb. 4, the gallery opens at 11 am for Art Trek, reception at 2-5 pm.  Normal hours are Sats. and Suns. 11 am to 5 pm.  Call 209-267-9038 for weekday hours.

Chaos Glass Works
- Sutter Creek. Art Glass Gallery and Hot Shop: David and Heather Hopman make a wide variety of art glass items. Live glassblowing demonstrations happen all day on weekends. 121A Hanford St., Sutter Creek

Charles Spinetta Winery & Wildlife Art Gallery- Plymouth.  The tasting room includes one of Northern California's largest wildlife art galleries with original watercolors, sculpture, pottery, and hundreds of framed prints.  15227 Steiner Rd. Plymouth.

Fine Eye Gallery- Sutter CreekFor February a colorful kaleidoscope of creative treasures. Art abounds in this gallery of sophisticated selections from America's foremost artists and craftsmen.  71 Main, Sutter Creek.

Full Circle Trading Company Jackson.  The "Fantasy Zone Art Gallery" is located at Full Circle Trading Co. 15 Main St. in Old Town Jackson, featuring fine art by local artists, along with authentic Native American art and crafts, jewelry, beads and more. Mon. 10am-3pm, Wed.- Sat.10am-4pm; Sun.11am-3pm; closed Tuesdays.  (209)223-1214.

Gallery 10- Sutter Creek.  For February, painter Ruth Andre, will be featured, who says, “From palette knife to canvas, the releasing of the paint tells my own story.”  This gallery is at 15 Eureka St., Sutter Creek. Gallery hours for February are Thursday-Monday, 11-4. A reception in honor of Ruth Andre will be on Art Trek 1st Saturday, February 4, at 2-5 pm at the gallery.

Little City Studio and Gallery- Amador City. February: the show features many popular local artists with artworks at very affordable prices. In addition, the gallery offers a complement of wonderful jewelry, knitting and crochet, weaving, pottery, cards, scarves, etc. Gallery hours are: F,S,S 10-5.   14180 Main Street, Amador City.

Petroglyphe Gallery- Mokelumne Hill. For February, the gallery is extending Doug Lawler's show - "The Island of Za", an imaginary mystical journey through 35 sepia-toned drypoint etchings. The gallery also represents contemporary North American artists + a new gift corner “Copper and Willow.” Open Thursdays through Sundays at 11:30. 8317 Main St., Mokelumne Hill.
Shenandoah Gallery at  Shenandoah Vineyards- Plymouth.  Tasting room boasts an art gallery. 12300 Steiner Rd.

Sutter Creek Gallery- Sutter Creek. Glass artist Helen Wilkinson will be featured at Sutter Creek Gallery. This versatile artist creates work from stained glass and from layers of glass fused together. Jewelry utilizes crystals, pearls, lamp-work beads, and fused glass. On Feb. 4, from 3 to 5 pm, the gallery will hold a reception. Winter hours are now in effect:  daily 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. but closed Tuesdays. 35 Main St.

Volcano Gallery
– Volcano. This gallery, right across from the historic St. George Hotel, features an eclectic mix of contemporary local art, including works by Bob Benker and many others. 16105 Main, Volcano.
