Support the Amador Student Music Fund on Tues May 6
As many of you know, I am a board member of a wonderful organization here in Amador County, called the Amador Student Music Fund (ASMF). The purpose of this group is subsidize individual music lessons for kids in the county whose families are financially challenged. We don’t often fund 100% of the lessons for each student…asking the parents to pay whatever they can…whether it is only a few dollars up to $10.00 or more--if they can afford it.
As a musician here in the county, it is HUGELY rewarding for me to see the next generation of young musicians coming up..eventually to push myself and my band mates (Over the Edge) off of the map to make room for the next wave! (Gives “Over the Edge” new meaning, I guess. J )
So on May 6th, this Tuesday, there is a national undertaking to support non-profits (see below) and we at the ASMF hope you will consider making a donation that will boost our efforts to have every young person who desires to learn an instrument…do so. It isn’t like it was when I was young…music taught for free in the schools.
A couple of assurances…your name has NOT been added to some list. You won’t receive repeated requests from us. This is a one-time shot only, but an important one. Many of you live outside of Amador County and I know that we all are asked to donate to a multitude of worthwhile causes. So, there is absolutely no pressure here. Only if you are inclined…of course.
